Blackberry Lane

I can't believe Christmas is just around the corner! It really snuck up on me this year. Perhaps it's because I started drinking egg nog and putting on holiday tunes in November. I'm all partied out.

I realize I wear hardly any purple in day-to-day life. Green and mustard yes, but never purple. So I'm over-compensating with this very purple-licious outfit. I love how unique and whimsical this vintage dress is. My mom thought I had it on backwards because of the keyhole, but no, this was the way it was intended.

Hope you all have a fantastic holiday!

Sunny Disposition

Not much to say except that life is pretty good. Holiday parties every other day, funny gift exchanges, and my favorite Christmas albums being played on repeat with no complaints. Ahhhhh I love this time of year.

Duck Pond

Golden Gate Park was so deliciously serene and quiet today. It was just what I needed. My commute to work is through a busy part of town, and after breathing in too much car exhaust and almost getting run over in intersections, a little fresh air and solitude was just what I needed.

Stow Lake, a major hot spot for ducks and seagulls, always makes for a beautiful retreat (although a friend of mine says it's haunted). There are lots of people picnicking and riding paddle boats. I think I'd terribly miss the park if we ever moved to a different neighborhood.

Oh and this is what I've been wearing lately: chunky knits, warm coats and usually a hat to disguise my confused hair. I think it's going through a Regae phase lately, because I've been battling some stubborn dreadlocks. Could be an interesting change...

Trench Coat Saturday

I love lazy weekends in the city. It means sleeping in and being only a short train ride from great coffee, Indian food, downtown shops and twinkling night lights.

A Great Gatsby Birthday

On Saturday, we went to a friend's Gatsby-themed birthday party in downtown Sacramento. I happily went all-out with my flapper costume. I love the fashion of the 1920’s, but I could make nothing in my closet work. Then I found this amazing fringe dress from Evangeline's Costume Mansion, and it saved the day.

The night was filled with boozing, dancing and admiring the fashionable ladies and gents. Nothing quite beats a man with a bow tie and nice hat, but that's just my humble opinion.

Highlights of the night: Grey's Anatomy playing in the background, microwave pork rinds and the birthday boy being serenaded at Denny' 3 a.m.
